2: Discover Your Voice
- Set up your own blog & add your first post.
- Send your blog name to teachin9[at]gmail.com so we can add you to our blogroll and begin your EmpowerUs New Tech learning journey.
3: Make a Contribution
- Explore Flickr — share your own photos and images and learn about this popular image hosting site.
- Play around with an online image generator
- Have some Flickr fun and discover some Flickr mashups & 3rd party sites.
- Discover YouTube and a few sites that allow users to upload and share videos.
4: Access Resouces
- Learn about RSS feeds and setup your own Bloglines newsreader account.
- Locate a few useful blogs and/or news feeds and write a post about what you find.
5: Collaborate with social networking
- Learn about tagging and discover Del.icio.us (a social bookmaking site)
- Explore Technorati and learn how tags work with blog posts.
- Learn about wikis and discover some innovative ways they are being used for collaboration worldwide.
6: Become more organized.
- Take a look at some online productivity (word processing, spreadsheet) tools.
- Explore any site from the Web 2.0 awards list, play with it and write a blog post about your findings.
7: Keep Learning and Teaching with Podcasts, Video & Downloadable audio
Jump into this FREE New Tech Class starting anywhere, according to your needs and goals and proceed in any direction, following your interests. Use, share, remix, and contribute so it keeps getting better. This site is meant to give you a push and a safety net. You can do it yourself, but it helps to have a hand to hold or a group to be inspired by when you’re feeling especially technologically challenged, and when you’re learning something new. It’s also more fun!
When you try things out, add your thoughts, insights and recommendations to the blog. As you create accounts on social networking sites like flickr, delicious, youtube, and technorati, use the empowerus tag. Please add empowerus to your favorites, and link back when you post something to your blog about empowerus, so you help spread the word.
Share your success, ask for any help you need, showcase your talents, earn extra income, and help your trusted network grow.
